About Anita Hampton

From Los Osos, CA, Anita is a master artist and instructor who has continued to work primarily in oils. She has many credits under her belt, including signature membership in the California Art Club (CAC), the Laguna Plein Air Painters’ Association, and Oil Painters of America.

After decades of study, Anita applies master-level painting skills to all subjects she paints. Her work hangs in private and museum collections, including the Irvine Museum, Forbes Museum and Guy Rose Plein Air Collection. As a California heritage artist, she exhibited at the State Capital and Governor’s office.

She has contributed and wrote books such as Oil painting Step by Step and The Art of Oil Painting, also producing instructional videos for all-level painters, teaching workshops and has a YouTube Video.

Anita sees painting as a life-long study and source of growth, seeing herself as a plein air painter, striving for purity in color and form. Striving to capture the light and mood of the day, she works under natural light whenever possible. She is fascinated with the play of colors and brings a joyful experimentation to all of her compositions.
